Overview
Nordic Nest is a compact studio renovation completed by Kimbanjang Interior. Designed for a young urban dweller, the project transforms a 30m² one-room apartment into a serene, highly functional living space. Drawing from Scandinavian design principles, the result is a home that feels effortlessly calm, uncluttered, and quietly personal.
Every decision — from the wall-mounted dining table to the built-in shoe cabinet at the entrance — was made with the same intention: eliminate visual noise, maximise usable space, and let natural light do the work.
Concept & Idea
The concept for Nordic Nest was rooted in one question: how do you make a 30m² apartment feel generous? The answer wasn’t about square footage — it was about restraint. By committing to a single white-dominant palette and keeping furniture low and light, the space opens up naturally without any structural changes.
Warm accents in sage green and burnt amber are introduced through textiles — a mint throw, botanical-print cushions, an amber glass vase — rather than paint or tile. This approach keeps the base clean and timeless while giving the space just enough character to feel lived-in. A rich dark wood nightstand (IKEA Hemnes) and a warm-toned wall-mounted table provide the grounding contrast that prevents the all-white scheme from reading cold.
The bathroom draws from the same palette but in a bolder register: chocolate brown mosaic tiles in the shower zone against clean white subway tiles, chrome fixtures, and a single potted plant — functional, tactile, and a little unexpected for a space this size.
